Revival

Music exists only as a form of living human behavior (communication). Our research and recording efforts would be incomplete if we did not also incorporate live music-making. The music that our researcher-musicians create is a revival, a reanimation of ancient musical heritage.

Education and recreational activities, which we direct towards children and youth in our area of activity, are also essential parts of revival. Knowledge of their own musical heritage enhances the cultural awareness and self-esteem of the residents in our region.

We believe that revival should be based on expertise and a deep understanding of the local musical heritage of the target area. Otherwise, the result could be the opposite of what is intended. In this sense, the systematic research and recording of tradition that has been ongoing for ten years is an essential and correct approach towards teaching and reviving the musical heritage of Kainuu and Viena Karelia.
