Sound Archive

The audio and video recordings of the Runo Song Academy are preserved in the Juminkeko Sound Archive. The Juminkeko Sound Archive primarily consists of material recorded in the Republic of Karelia, but it also includes materials from other regions of Russia, the Viena villages in Finland, and other parts of Kainuu.

The creation of the sound archive began in the 1980s, from which the oldest recordings date. The materials are in Karelian, Finnish, Vepsian, and Russian. Through international collaboration, the archive also contains samples from the still-living Vietnamese oral tradition.
