Pekka Huttu-Hiltunen
MuT Pekka Huttu-Hiltunen (b. 1954) serves as the director of the Runosong Academy. His doctoral dissertation, “Runosong in Western Viena Karelian in the 20th Century,” is an ethnomusicological study of the singing styles of six runosingers and the cultural significance of runosinging. Huttu-Hiltunen has had a long career as a music teacher and served as the principal of a music school in Kuhmo. In addition to his professional career, he has also been performing as a singer since the 1960s.
