Maria Feodorova (1909-2000) was one of the best practitioners of oral tradition from Viena Karelia who lived into our times. She was widely known for her beautiful singing voice and her diverse repertoire of songs. Various collectors have recorded Maria’s songs, rhymes, proverbs, stories, and memories. The album features runosongs, singing rhymes, newer folk songs, political songs, and one chastushka from Maria’s repertoire of over 100 songs.
